WHERE CAN YOU USUALLY BE FOUND AT 2AM?

During weekdays, I'm likely asleep at that hour. However, on weekends, you'll probably find me dancing with my partner in the living room, discovering new tunes, engaging in conversations, or enjoying moments of intimacy.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR AESTHETIC?

My aesthetic is characterised by being colourful, surreal, botanical, visceral, and vibrant. I use a palette of vibrant and contrasting colours to create visually striking compositions. My works often has a surrealistic touch, playing with reality and imagination to create intriguing and uncommon scenes. Nature is a constant source of inspiration for me, so many of my creations feature botanical elements that evoke the beauty and diversity of the natural world. Additionally, my work tends to be visceral, exploring deep emotions and human experiences through powerful and evocative imagery. In summary, my aesthetic is defined by its vitality, expression, and connection with nature.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO COMMUNICATE THROUGH YOUR WORK?

I consider myself a passionate photographer whose work is defined by its versatility and emotion. My style is dreamlike, colourful, and intense, reflecting my personality and emotions in each image. I find inspiration in cinema, graphic design, and my own experiences, always seeking new forms of expression and challenging my creative limits. I like to explore different genres and techniques to tell visual stories that resonate with the viewer.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE CREATIVE BLOCKS OR MOMENTS WHEN INSPIRATION DOESN’T SEEM TO COME?

Over time, I have come to understand that we are connected to the pulse of the earth and experience seasons. I try to go with them, and for example, in winter, when I feel that my energy and creativity decrease, I do not fight against it. This year, I have tried to navigate it by maintaining a constant dialogue with myself.

My process for overcoming creative blocks has involved exploration, discipline, openness to experimentation, and constant dialogue with myself. By understanding and accepting my cyclical nature, I learned to work with my energies and use moments of blockage as opportunities for reflection and preparation for future projects.

WHAT’S THE MOST BIZARRE PIECE OF ART OR DESIGN YOU’VE EVER CREATED, AND WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND IT?

The most unusual photograph I captured happened in the Azores. More than unusual, it was a combination of chance and magic. While photographing a beach chair with a yellow hibiscus, seeking contrast against the sea to create a minimalist composition, just as I pressed the shutter, a white dove appeared flying into the frame.

It was a truly magical moment; the unexpected presence of the bird added an element of surprise and beauty to the image.

WHAT’S YOUR GO TO SONG OR GENRE TO WORK TO?

In general, I love working while listening to folk music. It has a cozy and soothing quality that helps me stay focused and relaxed while working. I like how the soft melodies and profound lyrics of folk songs create a calm and serene atmosphere in my workspace. Although I can adapt to different genres depending on the mood and season, folk has always been my preferred choice to stay focused and productive during my creative sessions.

WHERE DOES YOUR MAIN SOURCE OF INSPIRATION COME FROM?

My main source of inspiration is nature. I find ideas and creativity by observing the patterns and beauty that the natural world offers. The diversity of colours, shapes, and textures constantly inspires me in my artistic work. Nature is an endless source of inspiration that drives me to explore and experiment in my art.

WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT NEVER FAILS TO MAKE YOU HAPPY OR BRINGS A SMILE TO YOUR FACE?

What always makes me happy and brings a smile to my face are my two cats, Lupita and Caléndula. I also love seeing poppies and waking up next to my partner. Those are the things that truly brighten my day.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST DREAM?

My aspiration and work at the moment are to live more present and conscious of my creative rhythms. As for my future aspirations, I would love to have a spacious studio, with white walls and lots of natural light, where I can create and express myself freely. That is the goal that drives and motivates me to move forward.

WHAT’S ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D GIVE TO ASPIRING ARTISTS?

A fundamental piece of advice for aspiring artists is to stay true to themselves. It's easy to get lost in trends and compare ourselves to others, but that can take us away from our own style and message. The key is self- awareness and authenticity. It's important to take time to reflect on who we are as artists and what we want to convey with our work. Occasionally disconnecting from social media and connecting with our own inner voice can be very helpful. Authenticity is what resonates with others, so staying true to oneself is essential to stand out.
