WHERE CAN YOU USUALLY BE FOUND AT 2AM?
At 2am, you will likely find me in bed at my house in South Wales.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR AESTHETIC?
My aesthetic is a delicate balance between the abstract nature of printmaking and the monumental forms found in modern and contemporary architecture and/or abstraction.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO COMMUNICATE THROUGH YOUR WORK?
I aim to explore the hidden beauty in urban decay, encouraging viewers to perceive neglected spaces differently.
HOW DO YOU HANDLE CREATIVE BLOCKS OR MOMENTS WHEN INSPIRATION DOESN’T SEEM TO COME?
When faced with creative blocks, I embrace the sometimes random nature of the printing process. I allow chance accidents in analogue techniques to guide me, leading to unexpected and surprising visuals. Embracing these happy accidents becomes a way to overcome creative obstacles.
WHAT’S THE MOST BIZARRE PIECE OF ART OR DESIGN YOU’VE EVER CREATED, AND WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND IT?
One of the most experimental and unique series I've created involved screen printing on incredibly delicate 9gsm Kozo paper. In this project, I explored the use of transparency and collage techniques. The inspiration again stemmed from the decay of posters and billboards, but I took it a step further by incorporating unconventional materials
WHAT’S YOUR GO TO SONG OR GENRE TO WORK TO?
I find myself listening to experimental genres while working. The atmospheric quality of the music complements the intuitive and process-driven nature of my art.
WHERE DOES YOUR MAIN SOURCE OF INSPIRATION COME FROM?
Urban decay and everyday textures, particularly in posters and billboards.
WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT NEVER FAILS TO MAKE YOU HAPPY OR BRINGS A SMILE TO YOUR FACE?
My cocker spaniel, Echo.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST DREAM?
My biggest dream is to continue pushing the boundaries of print and artistic practice. I aspire to create a dialogue around urban decay, encouraging a deeper understanding of the beauty that can emerge from unconventional beginnings.
WHAT’S ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D GIVE TO ASPIRING ARTISTS?
Embrace the unexpected, trust the process, and don't be afraid of happy accidents. Let the subconscious drive your art.
